University Hospital Birmingham NHS Foundation Trust's (UHB) International Nursing Education Team is celebrating after they beat out 13 other shortlisted nominees from across the country, to win "Best International Recruitment Experience" at the Nursing Times Workforce Summit and Awards 2022.
The awards recognise the excellent work being done by staff and their employer to support the nursing workforce.
UHB’s win was for recognition of post-registration experience in international nursing recruitment, with the judges calling it a "very commendable programme" and highlighting their "excellent competency framework and salary variation for international nurses with prior experience."
Carolyn Pitt, UHB's Deputy Director of Nursing Workforce (Corporate Nursing) who leads the programme, said: “We are delighted to have our international nursing programme recognised with this award, which has been achieved through a well-developed, collaborative approach between the Nursing Workforce, Education and Recruitment teams at UHB.
"Our approach recognises the skills, knowledge and experience that internationally educated nurses have and places value on supporting both their integration and career development at a Trust where they can stay and thrive.”
The team is based in a fit-for-purpose training environment in Birmingham, in which recruits from all over the world with access to tailored support and training to help prepare them for their entry exams and beyond.
Since August 2021, the team has delivered the programme to 281 new employees.
