Georgia Hillman, Operational Manager for Lower GI Surgery, Emergency General Surgery and the Surgical Assessment Unit (SAU) at Good Hope Hospital, is celebrating after winning a national award.
Georgia took home the ‘New and Aspiring Operational Manager of the Year’ award at the Proud2bOps Awards, which is part of the organisation’s Annual Congress.
Proud2bOps is a professional home for operational managers and leaders. It supports growth and aims to optimise the skills and expertise of its members and continue the development of members in health and care delivery through a range of networks.
Georgia has worked in several roles at the hospital since 2020, starting in patient access, and has been in operations since 2021. She started her current role last year as part of the University Hospitals Birmingham’s (UHB) new operating model.
Her role involves managing the colorectal and general surgery service at the hospital, liaising with patients and staff to ensure the service runs as smooth as possible.
Georgia said: “I’m very grateful and appreciative to have won this award. I don't think it would have been possible without the team around me and the wider Good Hope network we have. We work brilliantly together, and the recognition is made so much better because of the team that I'm part of.”
Since it was launched, Proud2bOps have collaborated with organisations and passionate operational managers to introduce and adopt an operational movement within their Trust, including UHB.
“I've recently been put forward as a Proud2bOps representative at Good Hope, along with my manager, Charlotte Joberns. We have exciting plans we are working on, and I’m very grateful for the opportunity to do so.”
