Disability Confident Leader

Jobs Disability Confident

At University Hospitals Birmingham NHS Foundation Trust (UHB), we are proud to be a Disability Confident Leader organisation, committed to fostering an inclusive and supportive working environment for everyone. Including those with a physical disability, long term health condition, neurodiversity or mental health condition.

The Disability Confident scheme helps employers like us make the most of the talents that people with disabilities can bring to our workforce. It’s part of our ongoing dedication to equality, diversity, and inclusion across all areas of our organisation.

Being Disability Confident means we:

  • actively encourage applications from people with disabilities and long-term health conditions
  • ensure our recruitment processes are inclusive and accessible to all
  • provide reasonable adjustments throughout the application and interview process, as well as in the workplace
  • support employees with disabilities to thrive and develop their careers

We also have dedicated staff networks, central pathways for the implementation of workplace adjustments, bespoke training and more at UHB to ensure our disabled colleagues are able to thrive.

If you have a disability, meet the minimum criteria for a role and opt into the scheme, you will be guaranteed an interview under the Disability Confident scheme.

We believe that a diverse workforce leads to better outcomes for our patients and communities.

You can read more about the Disability Confident scheme on the GOV.UK website.
