Important additional requirements

Medical devices

Medical Devices are an integral part of the diagnosis, treatment, support and care of patients. Professional users need to understand how the manufacturer intends the device/equipment to be used, and how it normally operates to be able to use it effectively and safely.

Practice supervisors, and/or practice assessors of trainee nursing associates and nursing or midwifery students

In January 2019, new NMC Education Standards for Student Supervision and Assessment (SSSA) came into force, which has changed how "mentors" supervise and assess nursing associates and nursing/midwifery students in the clinical area.

Non-medical prescribers

All non-medical prescribers (NMPs) must review their scope of practice by completing the annual audit form and discussing this as part of their annual appraisal, with a copy kept on the personal file.

Safeguarding

On an annual basis, the completion of a reflection on safeguarding practice must be undertaken. All UHB staff grades are required to consider their safeguarding practice and recognise their own professional development needs and their professional responsibility to safeguarding everyone.
