Improving your work and well-being

Improving your work life and well-being

Is there something that would improve your work life and well-being? You could use your appraisal to discuss these ideas.

There are many ways in which the Trust can support you at work.

Display screen equipment (DSE) assessment

Since your last appraisal you may require a DSE assessment as your workstation might need adjustment. For example, you may require a more suitable keyboard or headphones.

Use this link Display Screen Equipment to access the DSE intranet pages have more information on accessing eye sight tests and DSE risk assessments.

Inclusion and well-being

The Trust has a huge range of inclusion and well-being resources.

This website and the inclusion team can give you advice on how the Trust can support you, including workplace adjustments, the process for contacting access to work for reasonable adjustments, discussing training concerning disability awareness, or any other related matter.

Get in touch with the Inclusion Team.

Menopause Support and Passport

The Trust is committed to the well-being of our staff and wants to ensure all staff are aware of support that is available. This includes women who will go through the menopause, as well as men who may experience the andropause, and support both at work and in their personal lives.

For more resources, please see the intranet.

The menopause passport has been designed to give staff the confidence and the opportunity to discuss how the menopause is impacting them at work. It also gives managers an opportunity to ask questions and for the correct support and adjustments to be put in place. The passport should be signed by both the staff member and the manager to acknowledge they both agree to the adjustments.

The menopause passport can follow a member of staff between roles in the Trust, stay valid when managers change and should be updated, when necessary, to review if the staff member’s needs or the role has changed.

Staff network groups

There are a number of staff network groups that provide confidential advice and support for all staff. These groups are open to staff that identify as the group as well as allies. Please see the staff networks information on the intranet to find out more.

Please note, this link is only accessible when logged into the Trust network.

Occupational health and staff counselling service

The aim of the service is to improve your health and well-being at work and to help you with any health problems that you may have particularly if they are affecting your work or caused by work.

Any information which you share with us will be kept secure and confidential within the department.

The team consists of doctors specialising in cccupational health, consultant occupational psychiatrist, specialist nurses and counsellors.

The staff counselling service provides all Trust employees direct access to a free professional and structured counselling service.

The service can be reached via email.

      Change in circumstances

If your circumstances have changed since your last appraisal, the Trust would like to know about this. We can then ensure you receive the right support or reasonable adjustments to do your role.

      For example:

      • you might now be aware of a disability or long-term health condition (see information below)
      • you may require further support with a learning style, such as dyslexia
      • you may wish to discuss a change to your work pattern to support your work-life balance

      Disability

You can log a disability by logging into ESR self-service and changing your disability status.

This can include any physical or mental health condition which requires ongoing treatment for 12 months or more.

To access your ESR portal account, please follow the guidance on our intranet site.

Please note, this link is only accessible when logged into the Trust network.

If you have any queries or issues with your ESR portal, please email the HR Systems Team.

You can also get in touch with the Inclusion and Well-being Team who can provide support and guidance if you have a disability or long-term health condition, including mental health and neuro-diversity.
